About the Story
When Christine Berner responds to an offer of work from Signora LaFranchi an old friend of her mother's at the Castello Santa Maria in the southern Swiss Alps she has no idea of what she is letting herself in for. In the old castle set in a secluded alpine valley Christine discovers to her horror a community of young women living regimented and cloistered lives presided over by their formidable Mistress and subjected to Draconian discipline.
